INSTALL FOREMAN/WOMAN

Black Hound Design Company, a custom fabrication studio in Arvada, is looking for an experienced leader and fabricator to join our awesome team as an Install Foreman. We work with a variety of materials, including plywood, solid wood, veneer, epoxy, finishing, metal, and glass, so different skills are valuable. Install experience is strongly required.

We work really hard, under tight deadlines. But, we also have great senses of humor, and live by: work hard, play hard. We work in a fun, collaborative environment, so teamwork skills are a must.

We specialize in the commercial sector, doing large design/builds for restaurants, community spaces, and big brand retailers. We also do custom work for residences. A strong work ethic, hustle, tremendous technical skills, and a creative mind are a must.

Job Overview: The primary role of the Installation Lead/Foreman is to oversee installs to completion, while ensuring high quality craftsmanship, upholding staff safety, and driving the install to meet budgetary and time goals.

To fulfill this role, the Installation Lead/Foreman must be an excellent communicator and leader to effectively direct the install team. They are someone who hustles because they understand the importance of time management, efficiency, and leading by example. They are a quick problem solver, and can overcome install challenges by working with materials and equipment available on site. They are a forward thinker and anticipate the next steps of the install. 

This position will require about 75% active installing/buildings/hands on work, and about 25% oversight/admin work, but 100% leadership/management work. Black Hound works with a variety of material, including wood, metal, glass, and acrylic, so the install foreman needs to feel confident is leading projects with a variety of materials incorporated. 

When the Installation Lead/Foreman is not at an install, they flex to being an in shop Foreman as needed.

Background checks will be performed. A valid driver's license is required. Truck or SUV preferred but not required.

 

Pay range: $25-$30/hour, depending on experience. Plus generous paid time off, health insurance and a rad team to work with!

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Black Hound Design Company, a custom furniture design and build studio in Arvada, is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our awesome team. This person should have experience in design builds, in addition to management experience.

 

We specialize in the commercial sector, doing large design/builds for resorts, restaurants and breweries. We also build custom furniture for residences. We work really hard, under tight deadlines. But, we also have great senses of humor, and live by: work hard, play hard. We work in a very fun, collaborative environment, so teamwork skills are a must.

 

Typical job duties of the Operations Manager include:

Management Duties:

- General supervision of the workshop crew

- Helping the Foreman on coaching the crew, setting build goals

- Identifying and mitigating hold-ups or roadblocks in the build process

- Identifying best practices in build efficiencies

- Tracking budgeted hours and costs vs actuals

 

Workshop efficiency:

- Leading the Shop Leads, who are in charge of organization

- Overseeing and delegating inventory management and supply ordering

- Helping to ensure general shop safety and overall efficiency

 

General logistics:

- Tracking of orders going out

- Organizing shipping methods

- Coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers

 

While this position is primarily administrative, there will also be times when this person will roll up their sleeves and pitch in. As such, building and/or fabrication skills are a must.
